Join us for the second edition of ComicFEST at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. Get your favourite costume ready and unleash your inner hero on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Road). ComicFEST showcases and celebrates pop culture, with making, gaming, artists, Cosplayers, local vendors, and more!
Whether you love comics, manga, video games, TV shows, or movies, all fandoms are invited to celebrate creativity and storytelling at ComicFEST. Make your own wizard wand or join our action-packed Superhero Storytime. Step into new worlds with the Magic of Greenscreening, and don’t miss the Pokémon Party, where participants will be challenged to “catch ’em all.” With interactive activities for all ages, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
This year’s highlights include:
All Ages Mario Kart Tournament: Register online in advance for the tournament, and choose your time and skill level, from beginner to advanced, get ready to show off your skills!
Teens can sign up for a special Zine Making Workshop with Artist Neil Smith: Learn character design, panelling, and inking as you work to create a Zine in this instructional and fun workshop! Registration is required, and this program runs from 11-3pm.
Pretty Heroes: Pretty Heroes is a FanCon that celebrates strong female characters in fandom, recognizing the beauty of compassion, spirit, and inspirational female characters and real-life women and girls. Visit them for button making and find out more about their next Con happening at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto on July 19-20.
Support Local Talent: Discover amazing handmade treasures from Nerdy Kinda Crafty, featuring laser-cut and hand-painted earrings and pins from your favorite fandoms; Ty’s Bleachlab & Art, offering one-of-a-kind t-shirts with bold bleach designs; and Fiction and Fibre, with unique bookish clothing and accessories to showcase your love of reading!
