Placing a Hold
You may place holds on nearly all Library materials. We will contact you by phone, text, or email when items are ready for pick-up. We will keep all books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, and games for 7 days. If you do not pick up your holds, they are passed on to the next person who has put them on hold or returned to the shelves. If you are unable to pick up your holds within the time period, you may request the items again.
Automatic Renewals
Most library materials may be renewed three (3) times. Video Games, Blu-ray and DVDs may only be renewed one (1) time. Some specialty items cannot be renewed.
Items that are eligible for renewal will be automatically renewed 2 days prior to the due date. If you receive email or text notifications, you will be notified that the item was automatically renewed. When an item cannot be renewed, you will be notified and asked to return it on time.
When won’t items be automatically renewed?
- There is a hold on the item
- The item has already been renewed the maximum number of times
- Your account has more than $25 in fees on it
- The item is non-renewable
Renew Online or at the Library
To Renew Online:
Login to your online account with your library card number and PIN.
To Renew at the Library:
Bring your card to the library and use the self-checkout machines to renew or visit staff at the information desk.
You will NOT be able to renew if:
- There is a hold on the item
- You have reached the maximum amount of renewals
- If you have more than $25 in fees
Fees
Library service is free for anyone who lives or works in Innisfil, unless materials are returned damaged, or lost. Items which are 3 weeks overdue are considered lost, and replacement charges applied to the account.
For further information, please consult Schedule B within the Borrowing Policy for information on replacement charges.
Overdue Fines
The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library does not charge overdue fines on books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, Blu-Rays, and games. We know that you do your best to bring things back before the due date, but sometimes life gets in the way. That shouldn’t mean you can’t use your Library. Overdue fines do still apply to some items in our Library of Things collection, such as robots, audio equipment, and toys.
We ask that you do your best to return materials on time because other people may be waiting for them. When items are 3 weeks late, you’ll be billed for the replacement fee. Bring them back before they’re 6 weeks late, and the replacement fees will disappear: you won’t owe anything.
See our Fine Free FAQs page for more information
Overdue Notification
You are responsible for returning Library materials on time. If you are set up for email or text notifications, we’ll send you a reminder three days before the due date. Please speak with Library staff if you are interested in activating email or text notifications for your account.
Lost or Damaged Materials
Lost/damaged materials are billed at rates established by the Innisfil Public Library Board. Payment for lost or damaged materials is NOT refundable. Please do not purchase replacement items as they will not be accepted by the Library.
For further information, please consult Schedule B within the Borrowing Policy for information on replacement charges.
Returning Library Materials
You can return materials borrowed from the Library to any of our four locations, regardless of which one you borrowed them from. There are drop boxes available for your convenience, and so you can return materials when the Library is closed.
