The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is excited to announce the launch of a new pilot project, in partnership with Sandycove Acres, aimed at expanding access to library services for local residents. The new Library Holds Locker, located at The Wheel in Sandycove, will offer a convenient way for Sandycove residents to borrow and return items without having to visit the library in person. This pilot project is designed to provide a more accessible option for residents, particularly those who may face challenges accessing library branches.
Sandycove residents can now place holds on library items online and pick them up from the Library Holds Locker located at The Wheel (2 Weeping Willow Drive), which is accessible during the community centre’s regular hours. The locker also includes a small browsing collection, allowing residents to explore and borrow items on-site without placing a hold in advance.
“This project is about meeting people where they are,” said Erin Scuccimarri, CEO of Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. “We’re excited to make borrowing easier and more convenient for Sandycove residents, and we’re grateful for the partnership that made this possible. The library belongs to everyone, and this is one more way we’re working to make it accessible to all.”
To use the Library Holds Locker, residents simply need a valid library card. Once they’ve selected items to borrow online, they can choose the Library Holds locker as their pick-up location. Items can also be returned to the locker, or to any Innisfil ideaLAB & Library location.
The Library Holds Locker pilot project will be evaluated to assess its impact and gather feedback from the community for potential expansion. For more information on how to use the Library Holds Locker, visit www.innisfilidealab.ca/library-holds-locker/.
