For the first time, the iconic Tim Hortons Smile Cookie charitable campaign will kick off in the spring, launching in Tims restaurants across Canada and the United States starting on May 1 and running through May 7.
Every year, the week-long campaign sees Tims guests purchase millions of hand-decorated Smile Cookies and 100 per cent of the proceeds from each cookie are donated to support over 600 local charities and community groups that are handpicked by Tim Hortons restaurant owners.
This year, the owner of the Tim Hortons locations in Cookstown and Thornton are generously supporting Innisfil ideaLAB & Library & Essa Public Library by donating the proceeds from every freshly-baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie purchased to support our local libraries. Also available are adorable Smile Cookie personality pins – Zany, Sweetie, Chippy or Grumpy – at participating restaurants for $2 plus tax! Guests can complete a form to place pre-orders for Smile Cookies at the three locations. Funds raised will be shared between the Cookstown Branch of the Innisfil IdeaLAB & Library and the Thornton Branch of the Essa Public Library.
Innisfil ideaLAB & Library CEO, Erin Scuccimarri, expressed her appreciation about partnering with Tim Hortons for this year’s Smile Cookie campaign. “We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Tim Hortons and for everyone who buys Smile Cookies. Our libraries are important community hubs – and that is certainly something to smile about!”
“Smile Cookies are such a gift,” continued Laura Wark, CEO of Essa Public Library. “The funds allow us to elevate our service and delight our community members – we appreciate the support!,” says Wark.
Both agree that the Smile Cookie campaign is a great example of how a small donation can make a big difference in the community!
The first Smile Cookie campaign launched in 1996, originally raising funds for Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, the annual charitable campaign has raised a total of more than $92 million across North America for charities and organizations selected every year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. Recipients include local hospitals, community care organizations, food banks and schools. Last year’s campaign raised a record-breaking $15 million!
