Bam! Boom! Bang! Prepare for superpowered fun at Innisfil’s first edition of ComicFEST!

INNISFIL, ON (April 9, 2024) Join us for our first ever ComicFEST at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. ComicFEST will showcase and celebrate pop culture, with local vendors, Cosplayers, artists, gaming, making, and more! Dust off your capes and favourite costumes and join us on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Road).

Whether you’re into comics or manga, video games, TV shows or movies, all fandoms are welcome as we celebrate all forms of creativity and storytelling. Join us to DIY your very own ‘zine in the HackLAB, drop in for Superhero Storytime, transform into a wizard with the Magic of Greenscreening, discover Dungeons & Dragons, and sign up for the all ages Mario Kart Tournament! There’s something for the whole family!

Don’t miss these highlights from our first event:

Doctor Who Society of Canada: Calling all Whovians! Join the Doctor Who Society as they adventure through time and space! This volunteer-led community group is focused on inclusiveness, socialization, and of course, a love for Doctor Who.

501st Legion: Nobody loves Star Wars more than the “Bad Guys Doing Good”! Interact and pose for photos with members from the 501st Legion, a worldwide group of passionate costume builders, that build movie-accurate Star Wars villain costumes.

Upchuckle Education: Join Brad Ferguson, an Animator & Character Designer, for a fun, interactive drop-in drawing exercise & workshop. If you love to draw, and want to get some quick tips, this is for you! Brad is the founder of Upchuckle Education, which offers a variety of Cartoon Camps, drawing lessons and one-on-one mentorship.

Qarradune Books: Join local authors Amanda Giasson and Julie B. Campbell, creators of the fantasy book series Perspective. Enter the world of Qarradune, and find Amanda & Julie Cosplaying as characters from their books, Megan Wynters & Aésha Stargrace.

Pretty Heroes: Pretty Heroes is a FanCon that celebrates strong female characters in fandom, recognizing the beauty of compassion, spirit, and inspirational female characters and real-life women and girls. Visit them for button making and find out more about their next Con happening at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto on July 27-28.
