INNISFIL, ON (October 02, 2023) –  The UPlift Black Artists Collective, in collaboration with the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library and Orion Digital, is thrilled to invite you to an unforgettable evening of spoken word, dance, music, and a special XR immersive experience. This remarkable event, designed to showcase the profound impact of language on our thoughts and actions, will explore the theme of Accessibility. Join us as we celebrate the 2nd edition of Words Matter.

Words Matter is an initiative of UPlift Black, an organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting the lives of Black individuals in our community. This event promises to be a powerful testament to the transformative power of words, emphasizing the importance of accessibility in all aspects of our lives.

The event will take place on Saturday October 14 at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library (967 Innisfil Beach Road) starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $12 through Eventbrite, and all proceeds will directly benefit UPlift Black’s efforts to empower Black individuals in our community. Participants will enjoy a pre-show immersive virtual reality experience created by Orion Digital and Debbie Deer Productions.

Shelly Skinner, UPlift Black President, said “Our first showcase was held in 2022 at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie, with the support of the Barrie Public Library, where we had a sold out show! We are excited to continue this tour and showcase the incredible talent of the UPlift Black Artist Collective members at the Innisfil Library. Stay tuned for more shows coming in 2024!”
