About the hackLAB 

Located at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library’s Lakeshore and Cookstown Branches, the hackLAB gives you access to 3D printing, vinyl cutting, lasering and more!

Equipment

Innisfil ideaLAB & Library offers a diverse inventory of equipment for the public to use at little cost. Below is the full equipment list across all branches.

3D Printing

Hardware: Lulzbot Workhorse and a Lulzbot Mini

Software: Cura is used to send compatible jobs (.STL and .OBJ files) to the 3D printer. For designing, Sketchup or TinkerCAD are used to teach the basics of 3D design. Try Thingiverse to find new designs and upload your own. There you will find an ever-expanding collection of designs that are free to download and print for yourself.

Sublimation

Hardware: EPSON SureColor F170

Software: Inkscape allows for the creation of vector images that can be printed in full colour. Finished designs are sent to the EPSON SureColor F170.

Maximum size is 8.5 inches wide and 11 inches tall.

Laser Cutting/Engraving

Hardware: Epilog Laser mini

Software: Inkscape allows for the creation of vector images that can be engraved/cut with many materials. Finished designs are sent to the Epilog laser using Epilog software.

Maximum size is 24 inches wide and 12 inches high. Depth can vary.

Vinyl Printing & Cutting

Hardware: Roland Print & Cut BN-20

Software: Inkscape allows for the creation of vector images that can be printed in full colour and cut using matte, gloss or heat transfer vinyl. Finished designs are sent to the Roland Print & Cut machine using Roland VersaWorks.

We use rolls of vinyl that are 18 inches wide.

Cricut

Hardware: Cricut Maker 2 and (2) Cricut Maker 3’s

Software: Cricut Design Space is a companion app that allows you to design and cut with the Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines. Create a project from scratch or browse thousands of images, predesigned projects, and fonts in the Cricut Image Library.

The maximum dimensions are 11.5 inches wide and 23.5 inches tall.

Embroidery

Hardware: Brother Persona PRS100

Software: Inkscape, in combination with the extension Ink/Stitch, allows for the creation of vector images that can be embroidered using the Brother Persona PRS 100. Files must be saved in the.DST (Data Stitch Tajima) format.

We have sheets of baltic birch wood and acrylic in various colours. You can purchase full sheets or use a portion of a sheet and pay per square inch used.

  • $0.06 /sqin for any additional area
  • $1.00 minimum fee

Wood
